Contact lenses prove to be a real winner for veteran athlete.

Contact lenses prove to be a real winner for veteran athlete.

European and British champion hurdler, Peter Field (aged 76), can clearly see the benefits of regular eye care as his clarity of vision helps boost his performance on the track. Since joining Southend Athletics Club in 1954 Peter has been running for club and country, on-and-off, for more than half a century. When he first started his athletics career he wore spectacles but soon found that these could hinder his sporting performance.

Peter explains: “Wearing spectacles on the track restricted my peripheral vision making it incredibly difficult for me to see fellow competitors in the outside lanes. And, in wet weather, my glasses had a tendency to fog up while I was still in the blocks – which is not at all satisfactory when I had ten hurdles to negotiate!”

Despite the challenges of wearing spectacles Peter still managed to win the county short and long hurdle titles in 1956. As a veteran athlete though Peter has been competing wearing Tangent Streak RGP bifocal contact lenses which have helped to dramatically boost his performance on the track.

Contact lenses are a great choice for athletes as they have been proven to provide the wearer with excellent focus, good depth perception, increased peripheral vision and excellent spacial recognition.
