A view from the Eyecare Trust

After a British Summer that meant if you blinked, you quite literally missed it! The Eyecare Trust has teamed up with Rubicon Exotic to launch a sunglass collection scheme.
The Save our Sight (SOS) campaign will ask the public to recycle their old sunglasses in collection boxes located in optician practices across the UK. All donated shades will then be checked to ensure they provide adequate UV protection before being distributed at free eye camps throughout India, where 77 per cent of all blindness is due to cataracts. A vision screening clinic run by the Trust was recently filmed by the BBC for a programme on eyecare on the NHS.
The clinic highlighted the importance of regular eyecare and raised awareness of NHS entitlements.
Dominic Littlewood (pictured above with ET Trustee, Rosie Gavzey) presents the programme which is due to be broadcast on BBC1 Daytime during w/c 22 September.
